Greenbrier began in 1998 through the interest and efforts of the owner and Director, Mrs. Kirsten Benson. The first session was held in a home-based environment. Over the next two years, Mrs. Benson committed her time to designing a building and having it brought to reality to meet the communities' needs.

In August of 1998 we moved into our new facility. At this time we were a traditional preschool which included, full day programs, half day and after school programs, a full baby and toddler community, as well as, a two year old preschool program. The school, then named Young Adventure, was doing well, but Mrs. Benson had a desire to do more. She spent the next year researching many different teaching methods. She wanted children to always feel a sense of success and to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, not because of rewards or incentives. With this desire and thorough investigation, Mrs. Benson began the transition to Montessori.

In 2001 Young Adventure became a Montessori school. We still offered a full baby and toddler community, a Montessori two's and young three's class, as well as, a full Montessori preschool program for age's three to five. With increased interest within our school and from the community we expanded to include a kindergarten in the fall of 2002.

With the continued growth of our school, Mrs. Benson purchased new property in the summer of 2002. With the new building also came the new name, Greenbrier Montessori Academy. Over the next year, Mrs. Benson successfully directed Greenbrier, as well as, the current location of Young Adventure. In 2003 the renovations and completion of the new building at the Greenbrier Montessori location were complete. This allowed Young Adventure to fully merge with Greenbrier, where our school continues to thrive. We also expanded to include first grade in 2003 and second grade in 2004.

Greenbrier Montessori Academy currently has over 80 families. Our school community continues to thrive and relationships and milestones are consistently evolving. We believe we offer the best education possible for children through kindergarten. We are continuous in our growth as educators and look forward to working with your family.
